Water is the fundamental element of development of any nation. It is important to note that some regions have scarce water causing drought, or excesses that cause flooding, so in both cases water represents a challenge for the economy of the region, as resources must be allocated to meet any climatic contingency.

The efficient use and treatment of wastewater is fundamental, since there are regions with abundance where pollution is sought to be avoided, or else, in regions with recurrent drought, it obliges primary food producers and water utilities to conscientiously use them.

In regions where the drought is recurrent and the depletion of the aquifers, which is the reduction of the water level of this, represents a challenge for the future of the communities, in DPS Desarrollo de Proyectos Sostenibles we have developed projects for the recharge of the aquifers.



Efficient Use of Water

Agricultural Irrigation

When irrigation was modernized, the usage of water in the agricultural sector decrease, but there is still room for more, although,it is necessary to face problems associated with the rising of energy costs due to thatDPS, has always committed to the environment, We advise and train companies dedicated to agriculture, developing projects aimed at the application of modern techniques or systems adapting to the needs of each client.


Making efficient use of water implies the use of technologies and practices that provide a better service, with less water, thus reducing costs to the industry and fostering a culture of awareness of water consumption in companies, that is why in DPS in collaboration With our group of experts we develop industrial projects for the efficient use of water, to do more with less.


Wastewater or contaminated water is generated by different sources, either for industrial use or from residential areas. We all know the importance of water in our lives and the planet, so it is very important to treat the water we use so that it can be reused in other activities or incorporated into the environment taking care of quality standards. In DPS we have the ability and the capacity to design efficient water treatment projects, as well as provide advice for the proper development of these treatment processes.



Primary Treatment

This stage is considered as a water pre-treatment, some purification processes are implemented such as separation of coarse, separation of fines, de-graining and degreasing, their principles are purely physic to prepare water for the following treatments, and with the objective of eliminate easily separable residues.


It is considered as a primary treatment unit any system that allows the removal of suspended material, with the exception of colloidal material or dissolved substances present in water. The main objective of this process is to continue eliminating suspended solids by purely physical methods, meaning by the force of gravity that includes sedimentation and sieving processes.

Secondary Treatment.

Secondary treatment includes aerobic, anaerobic and physicochemical biological processes, having as objectives to reduce the organic substance of the water, reducing its nutrient content and eliminating pathogens and parasites. This process accelerates organic pollutants decomposition which are present in the waster water and the final quality of the water increases, even the change is notorious in the physical characteristics of the liquid such as the heat and odor that it has.

Tertiary Treatment

Tertiary treatment is aimed at the final reduction of organic substance, heavy metals and/or specific chemical contaminants and elimination of pathogens and parasites.
Consist on special physical and chemical processes, that clean water from specific contaminants such as phosphorus, nitrogen, minerals, heavy metals, viruses, organic compounds and others. The resulting water is potable. This treatment is more expensive than the previous ones and due to that it is used in special cases.



Aquifer Recharge

Absorption Wells

DPS has highly trained and specialized team for the development and design of projects for absorption wells, alluvial fans that serve for the artificial recharge of runoffs that represents an important strategy for the integral management of water in the watersheds and allows to store it without losses by evaporation, serves to reduce the overexploitation rates and generally as well to improve the quality of the recharged waters.

 Soil Conservation

DPS has experts for the design and development of structures for soil conservation and water catching that help to the increase of infiltrated water amount, decrease erosion, improves soil humidity and improve water quality. Some of the structures are dams of accommodated stone, dams of gabions, individual terraces, ditch board, stone barriers to level curve, vegetal material in level curves and others.
